Phase One is complete!

Work to remove and relocate most of the gravestones in the north graveyard as part of our Welcome Garden development is complete.

The work has involved filling certain areas and seeding.

It has cost around £20,000 (including archeaological services). We have raised this amount, since the end of January, through grants from the Bearders Trust (£2,000), Allchurches Trust (£1,500) and Community Foundation for Calderdale (£1,500); fundraising events - such as the Pie and Pea Dance (£1,200) - and personal giving including collections of funerals of church people.

We plan to start Phase Two (hard and soft landscaping and planting) in August.

Further work will include new glass outer doors, outdoor lighting, CCTV, some new noticeboards plus the purchase of outdoor equipment.

Fantastic achievement, well done to everyone who has contributed to this , this is going to be a great way to reach out to our local community and beyond xx
