Discipleship in your small groups
making disciples: developing; spirituality/accountability/motivation.
Developing spirituality - increased bible study with a focus
Developing accountability - meeting in 2s, 3s to share weekly
Developing motivation - hold in prayer/support in life
Devoting ourselves afresh to pray, share and serve in order to fulfil our God-given mission as followers of Christ. One way to fuel your own devotion on a daily basis is through reading and meditating on God's word. There is a great benefit in using a devotional format for bible reading aimed at hearing from God daily and responding to his leading. The goal is not to just 'get through' your bible reading but to allow god's word to 'get in' to your heart and life, bringing about personal growth and positive change. As you do your daily reading, consider using the following S.O.A.P. devotional format:
Scripture - write out a verse or two that speak specifically to you.
Observation - make a note of what you observe in the text.
Application - reflect upon / write out how God's word applies to your life.
Prayer - prayer in response to what God has said.
- Personal study following SOAP
- Weekly meeting with your partner, triplet*
- Raise prayer requests for each other
- Praise reports, fill out a praise report card and share it with others (answered prayer)
*be open with others and invite them to form their own group, or join yours till they find a partner
