Our Giving to Charities

We would love to support so many charities as a church – but have decided to choose 6 each year: a mix of local, national and international.

Our support consists of learning more about our chosen charities every year and giving an annual donation. The six receieve an equal amount which is put aside as our charity giving for the year and budgetted by the PCC. At present we are budgetting 8% of our previous year’s income amount.

There are separate pages attached to this page, from the Home menu, which give further details and weblinks for each charity we are currently supporting. We also support Christian Aid‘s annual fundraising week and individual member’s of the congregation support their chosen charities. There are so many worthwhile causes to support.

Charity Support 2026

The St. Augustine’s Centre and Happy Days period of support was up at the end of December 2025.

Nominations were submitted by parishioners for the PCC to select two replacement charities to support in 2026 (both St. Augustine’s and Happy Days could have been re-selected). These charities will now be supported for 3 years.

The charities chosen were: St. Augustine’s and The Homeless Pastors. Please see the pages on those charities from the main menu or click on the names to see their websites. We will continue to support Happy Days with donated goods, which are put in a donation box under the table in the foyer.

Charity Support 2025

CART and Open Doors’ period of support was up at the end of December 2024.

Nominations were submitted by parishioners for the PCC to select two replacement charities to support in 2025 (both CART and Open Doors could have been re-selected). These charities will now be supported for 3 years.

The charities chosen were: Growing Hope and The Bible Society. Please see the pages on those charities from the main menu or click on the names to see their websites.

Charity Support 2024

Christian Aid and Tearfund’s period of support came to an end in December 2023, and nominations were received from members of the congregation for two charities to support for three years from 2024. Christian Aid and Tearfund could be re-nominated.

The PCC voted on the nominations and the two charities chosen were: Embrace the Middle East and the St. Augustine’s Centre.

Embrace supports Christian partners in the Middle East as they work to transform lives and restore the dignity of the most excluded and marginalised communities. Where there is a need – for refuge, a home, health care , education, justice or human rights- they, with their partners, respond. https://www.embraceme.org

St. Augustine’s Centre is a local charity supporting asylum seekers and refugees who are rebuilding their lives in Calderdale. https://www.staugustinescentrehalifax.org
