Baptism and Thanksgiving

Baptism (sometimes called Christening) is a wonderful way to declare your faith in Jesus.

For babies and young children

We’re delighted that you’ve enquired about involving God and the Church in celebrating the arrival of your child.

Both baptism and thanksgiving services can happen in the morning service at 10:30am at All Saints and there is no cost for either service.  If you have a lot of guests we can arrange to hold a service at lunchtime on a Sunday, if that’s the case we will always ask that you attend a normal service in the week or two that follows so you and your child can be formally welcomed by the church.

If you have any questions please do get in touch, we are always happy to take the time to talk it through in person.

There is no charge for either service.  After getting in touch (either pop in and see us, or fill in the contact form), we will arrange to meet you and talk through the options, and begin to explore faith together before we confirm a specific date.  These decisions are life changing and so we want to make sure you have all the information you need, before making them.  You can begin to explore the two services in this Child Baptism and Thanksgiving leaflet 2025.

For older children and adults

Making a public declaration of your faith is a wonderful thing to do.  At All Saints we offer baptism using the font or by full immersion (in a small pool) for those not baptised as babies.  We also offer a re-affirmation of baptism vows which can be done by immersion for those who were baptised as babies.

This would normally be followed immediately by confirmation – a service where you are formally welcomed as a member of the church and is conducted by one of our local Bishops.  If you’re interested in baptism please pop in and see us and contact us using this website and we’ll arrange to meet and agree a course of preparation, you’ll be expected to attend worship as part of this preparation as you get to know the church family.  Baptism marks a life altering decision to follow Jesus and we want to equip you to continue to grow in your faith all the way through your life.   You can begin to find out about baptism in this leaflet: Adult baptism 2025

Regardless of whether you’re new to faith, re-discovering an old faith or just curious about what it’s all about it, we’d love to walk alongside you as you find out more, please get in touch.
